The highly anticipated Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is set to
make its grand debut at the NADA Auto Show 2024. Alpha Automotive Pvt. Ltd.,
the official distributor of Royal Enfield motorcycles in Nepal, is all set to
introduce the eagerly awaited Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 in Nepal. The company
has announced that the bike will make its initial appearance at NADA 2024, with
its official launch and subsequent deliveries to follow shortly after that. The
Himalayan 450 is no exception, embodying the spirit of adventure with its
robust build and powerful performance.
At the heart of the Himalayan 450 is a newly developed Royal
Enfield’s first-ever liquid-cooled engine, the ‘Sherpa 450.’ It is powered by a 452cc single-cylinder
engine that generates a max power of 40PS at 8,000rpm and 40Nm at 5,500rpm,
including 33Nm of torque accessible from the 2,500rpm mark. The engine features
a four-valve head and a DOHC configuration, paired with a 6-speed gearbox that
includes a slip and assist clutch. Despite incorporating new technologies and
liquid cooling, the engine is about 10 kg lighter than the previous LS 411
motor.
Royal Enfield has equipped the Himalayan 450 with advanced
features to enhance the riding experience. The bike comes with elements such as
an LED headlight, headlamp cowl, windshield, front beak, LED taillamps, LED
side indicators, a C-type USB charging port and ride-by-wire. The bike comes
with the latest 4-inch circular TFT dashboard that provides comprehensive
information, including gear position, trip meter, and navigation. This latest
device connects to your phone via Bluetooth, enabling you to view Google Maps
information and control music playback using the joystick on the left switch
cube.
The new Himalayan features a completely redesigned steel
twin-spar frame, using the engine as a stressed member, and includes a
twin-sided swingarm. The suspension, sourced from Showa, includes a 43mm
upside-down fork and a mono-shock, both offering 200mm of wheel travel. The
braking system features a 320mm front disc with a double-piston caliper and a
270mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper, both equipped with switchable
dual-channel ABS. It offers two riding modes: Eco and Performance.
The Himalayan 450 is equipped with brand-new tyres on
wire-spoked wheels, with a front size of 90/90 R21 and a rear size of 140/80
R17. It features a ground clearance of 230mm, a kerb weight of 196kg, and a
17-liter fuel tank. The standard seat height is 825mm, which can be extended to
845mm, and there's a low seat option that lowers it to 805mm. The expected
mileage is approximately 35 km per litre. The bike comes with robust pannier
mounts and a luggage rack, providing ample storage options for extended
journeys.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 price in Nepal is expected to be around NRs. Rs 10 Lakh – NRs. 11 Lakh. In the Indian market, the Himalayan 450 is offered in three variants: Base, Pass, and Summit. We’ll need to wait and see which of these variants will be available in the Nepalese market. The Himalayan 450 will be assembled at the company's facility in Simara, Bara. With its powerful engine, advanced features, and adventure-ready design, it promises to offer an unparalleled riding experience.
