The electric vehicle (EV) revolution is accelerating globally, and Nepal is no exception. The latest buzz in the automotive scene is the imminent launch of the Tata Punch EV in Nepal. The eagerly anticipated Tata Punch EV is set to be introduced in the Nepalese market soon, with expectations pointing towards its debut at the upcoming NADA Auto Show 2024. However, Tata Motors Nepal has not yet revealed specific launch details. This compact electric SUV promises to bring a fresh wave of excitement combining the practicality of a compact SUV with the benefits of electric mobility.

The Punch EV is based on Tata Motors’ new Gen 2 Acti.EV (pronounced ‘active’) architecture, designed specifically for electric vehicles, which will also support a range of future Tata EVs and SUVs. The Punch EV is expected to come with two battery pack options: Standard and Long Range. The standard range will have a 25 kWh battery, generating 60 kW of power and 114 Nm of torque. The long range will feature a 35 kWh battery, producing 90 kW of power and 190 Nm of torque.

The standard variant of the Punch EV offers a range of up to 315 km, while the long-range variant can reach up to 421 km, according to MIDC standard testing conditions. Charging options include a 3.3kW wall box charger and a 7.2kW fast charger. Additionally, it supports DC fast charging, allowing it to charge from 10-80 percent in 56 minutes with a 50kW rapid charger. The Long Range variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in less than 9.5 seconds, whereas the standard model reaches this speed in 13.5 seconds.

The Tata Punch EV boasts a bold and sleek design with modern features. It comes equipped with LED projector headlights, LED fog lights, Y-shaped LED tail lights, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree surround-view camera, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system by Harman. This electric SUV introduces a first for Tata EVs with a front-facing charging port cleverly positioned beneath the LED DRLs, which also serve as charging indicators.

The Tata Punch EV prioritizes safety with advanced features. In terms of safety, it is equipped with 6 airbags, an antilock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), 360-degree surround-view camera system, hill descent and hold control, electronic parking brake with auto hold, electronic stability program for enhanced control, secure ISOFIX anchors for child seats and many others. The latest SUV achieved a complete 5-star rating for adult occupant safety and a 4-star rating for child occupant safety.

The Tata Punch Electric SUV measures 3857 mm in length, 1742 mm in width, and 1633 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2445 mm. The Punch EV can wade through water up to 350mm deep and has a ground clearance of 190mm when not carrying a load. It has a kerb weight ranging from 1240 Kg to 1340 Kg and offers a spacious boot space of 366 Liters. The vehicle comes equipped with 185/70 R15 front tyres with disc brakes, and 195/60 R16 rear tyres with drum brakes for the standard model, while the long-range version includes disc brakes all around.
