The future of electric vehicles (EVs) is here, and it's electrifying. Kia's premier electric SUV, the EV9, has arrived at the Birgunj Customs Office before its official launch in Nepal. Although the official launch is still pending, this early arrival hints at the groundbreaking changes the EV9 is set to bring to the Nepalese market. With its sleek design, cutting-edge technology, and zero-emission performance, the EV9 is poised to set new standards for electric mobility.
The Kia EV9 is based on the Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) which it shares with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in terms of similar features, design and performance. The EV9 offers various electric powertrain options and incorporates Kia's latest fourth-generation battery technology. The Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) Standard model has a 76.1-kWh battery, while the RWD Long Range and All Wheel Drive (AWD) variant has a 99.8-kWh battery.
The Kia EV9 is designed to achieve a remarkable range of over 541 kilometres on a single charge. Its cutting-edge 800-volt system enables rapid charging, with just 15 minutes needed to add a substantial 239 kilometres to its range. Although technical specifications have not yet been disclosed by the company, the international market for the EV9 offers a diverse range of electric powertrain options across different variants. However, in Nepal, it is expected to come with only a single standard variant.
The Kia EV9 is a masterpiece of design, seamlessly blending aesthetic appeal with modern features. It is loaded with innovative features, from smart driving aids to easy-to-use entertainment options. Its SUV design stands out with smooth lines and LED lights all around. The front grille has a unique digital pattern, and the headlights add to its stylish look, especially with the GT-Line trim. Inside, you'll find a 12.3-inch display for the cluster, a 5-inch segment display, and a large 12.3-inch infotainment screen.
The Kia EV9 boasts both seven-seater and six-seater configurations. These seats have the flexibility to swivel up to 180 degrees. It also features seamless integration with smartphones and intelligent charging capabilities, along with HVAC control for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. It is also equipped with a variety of safety features, supported by Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), to elevate passenger safety. Furthermore, the EV9 provides safety and convenience both before and after driving.
The Kia EV9 offers ample space for passengers and cargo alike. It boasts a 3,100mm wheelbase, offering flexibility with options for 21-inch, 20-inch, or 19-inch wheels. It measures 5,010 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,755 mm in height, presenting a commanding presence on the road. It boasts a ground clearance of approximately 225mm, while its kerb weight falls within the range of 2,405 to 2,664 kg. It is anticipated to offer a boot space of 296 litres.
The price of Kia EV9 in Nepal is expected to be around NRs 1.80 Crore. The Kia EV9 represents more than just a new addition to the Kia lineup—it's a symbol of progress, innovation, and a commitment to a brighter future. Stay tuned for more updates on the EV9.
