Tata Motors is all set to turn heads with its latest offering – the Tata Punch Micro SUV. It is more than just a vehicle; it's a glimpse into the future of automotive excellence. As it prepares to debut at the NADA Auto Show 2023, this compact powerhouse is set to captivate hearts, redefine urban driving, and leave an indelible mark on the world of automobiles. Tata Punch retains the majority of the elements from the HBX concept which was launched back in 2020. The design of the Tata Punch is muscular, modern, altogether desirable, and very SUV. It is the first Tata SUV to be underpinned by the ALFA-ARC (Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture) platform and is based on the brand's Impact 2.0 design language.
While its compact size might deceive you, the Tata Punch packs a punch in terms of performance. It is powered by a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated, Revotron petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 84 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. This engine has been updated with the Dyna Pro system to optimize air pressure for better low-end torque. It is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox as standard while the five-speed AMT unit is optional on the top three variants – Adventure, Accomplished and Creative. It includes an automatic engine start/stop system that contributes to enhancing fuel efficiency. This leads to an officially stated fuel efficiency rating of 18.97 kilometres per litre (kpl) for the manual transmission version and 18.82 kpl for the automatic models, as per ARAI measurements.
At the heart of the Tata Punch's allure lies its captivating design. The vehicle boasts a bold and charismatic stance that commands attention from every angle. It is equipped with LED daytime time running lamps (DRLs), projector headlights, squarish LED taillights, a 7-inch touchscreen system, a semi-digital instrument cluster, auto AC, automatic headlights, connected car tech (Creative i-RA pack), 16-inch dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels and roof rails. It is also equipped with a range of active and passive safety including dual airbags, an antilock braking system (ABS), and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) as standard. The new SUV scored a full 5-star rating in adult occupant safety and a 4-star rating in child occupant safety. It provides a generous cargo capacity of 366 litres in the trunk area.
The Tata Punch is available in four variants: Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative. It is available in seven different color option: Orcus White, Daytona Grey, Tropical Mist, Atomic Orange, Meteor Bronze, Tornado Blue, and Calypso Red. The Tata Punch's price in Nepal is set to commence slightly below the threshold of NRs. 30 lakhs. Once launched in Nepal, it will compete against the likes of Suzuki Ignis, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite and the upcoming Hyundai Exter. With its captivating design, dynamic performance, smart technology, and unwavering focus on safety, the Punch is set to carve a niche for itself in the hearts of Nepali drivers.
