Tata Punch EV Arrives in Nepal Ahead of Launch: Debuting at NADA Auto Show 2024

The much-anticipated Tata Punch EV has finally made its way to Nepal, generating significant buzz among electric vehicle enthusiasts. While Tata Motors Nepal has yet to disclose specific launch details, it is anticipated that the Punch EV will be unveiled at the forthcoming NADA Auto Show 2024. As the Nepalese EV market continues to expand, the arrival of the Tata Punch EV in Nepal marks a significant milestone, promising to offer a blend of sustainability, performance, and style.


The Punch EV is built on Tata Motors' new Gen 2 Acti.EV (pronounced ‘active’) architecture. This platform is specifically designed for electric vehicles and will support a variety of upcoming Tata EVs and SUVs. It is expected to come with two battery pack options: Standard and Long Range. The standard range will have a 25 kWh battery, generating 60 kW of power and 114 Nm of torque. The long-range will feature a 35 kWh battery, producing 90 kW of power and 190 Nm of torque. 


The standard Punch EV can go up to 315 km on a single charge, while the long-range version can travel up to 421 km, based on MIDC testing. It offers charging options with a 3.3kW wall box charger and a 7.2kW fast charger. It also supports DC fast charging, charging from 10% to 80% in 56 minutes using a 50kW rapid charger. The long-range variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in under 9.5 seconds, and the standard model takes 13.5 seconds to reach the same speed.


The Tata Punch EV boasts a bold and dynamic design with modern features. It comes equipped with LED projector headlights, LED fog lights, Y-shaped LED tail lights, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree surround-view camera, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system by Harman. This electric SUV is the first Tata EV to feature a front-facing charging port, smartly located under the LED DRLs, which double as charging indicators.


The Tata Punch EV is set to elevate safety standards in the compact electric vehicle segment. In terms of safety, it is equipped with 6 airbags, an antilock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), 360-degree surround-view camera system, hill descent and hold control, electronic parking brake with auto hold, electronic stability program for enhanced control, secure ISOFIX anchors for child seats and many others. The latest SUV earned a full 5-star rating for adult occupant safety and a 4-star rating for child occupant safety.


The Tata Punch Electric SUV has dimensions of 3857 mm in length, 1742 mm in width, and 1633 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2445 mm. It can traverse water up to 350 mm deep and offers a ground clearance of 190 mm when unloaded. It has a kerb weight ranging from 1240 Kg to 1340 Kg and provides a spacious boot space of 366 Liters. The standard model features 185/70 R15 front tyres with disc brakes and 195/60 R16 rear tyres with drum brakes, while the long-range version comes with disc brakes on all four wheels.


The Tata Punch EV price in Nepal will be announced at the NADA Auto Show 2024, along with details about colour options, warranty, and other specifications. The Punch Electric SUV offers three different driving modes: Eco, City, and Sport. It offers a wide range of colour options in the international market including Empowered Oxide, Seaweed, Daytona Grey, Fearless Red, and Pristine White, each available in dual-toned variants.
