MG Motor has officially launched its latest masterpiece the MG4 EV electric hatchback in Nepal. Paramount Motors, the official distributor of MG cars in Nepal, has introduced the MG4 EV in the Nepalese market with two distinct versions: the Comfort trim and the Luxury trim. This remarkable electric vehicle is set to change the way Nepalese people commute, offering not just an eco-friendly option but also a taste of cutting-edge technology. The MG4 EV, a compact electric SUV, is a product of MG Motor, a subsidiary of the Chinese automotive giant SAIC Motor Corporation. MG Motor has been making waves in the EV market, and the MG4 EV is a testament to their commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.
The MG4 EV is not just another electric car; it's a statement of innovation and performance. It will be offered in two options: Standard Range and Long Range. The Standard Range is powered by a 125kW synchronous motor that generates a max power of 170 PS and a max torque of 250 Nm. It comes equipped with a 51kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. The battery achieves a complete charge within 7.5 hours using a 7kW Charger. Additionally, it boasts an impressive range of 350 kilometres on a single charging cycle. It is also equipped with 150kW DC Fast Charging capability, significantly reducing the charging duration to less than sixty minutes.
Similarly, the Long Range is powered by a 150 kW synchronous motor that generates a max power of 203 PS and a max torque of 250 Nm. It comes equipped with a 64kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery. The manufacturer states that the vehicle offers a range of 450 kilometres on a single charge, and it can achieve a full charge within 9 hours using the 7kW Fast Charger. It also features the capability for 150kW DC Fast Charging, significantly reducing the charging time to less than 60 minutes. The MG4 EV offers impressive acceleration, going from 0 to 60 mph in just a matter of seconds.
The MG4 EV boasts a modern and stylish design that appeals to a wide range of consumers. It comes equipped with projector LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs, an arrow-shaped LED taillight, an active intake grille shutter with integrated side indicator, a 10.25-inch floating colour infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 7-inch digital driver information display, vehicle 2 load, 6-way driver adjustable seat, 4-way passenger adjustable seat and 17-inch alloy wheels with aero cover. The interior is also thoughtfully designed with premium materials and state-of-the-art technology.
Safety is paramount, and MG has taken it seriously in the MG4 EV. In terms of safety, it comes with 6 airbags, ABS (Anti-lock braking system), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), ESP (Electronic stability control), EBA (Emergency Brake Assist), hill-descent control, hill ascend control, climate control, auto-hold and tyre pressure monitoring system. One of the key aspects that contribute to its success is its well-thought-out dimensions. It boasts dimensions of 4287mm length, 1836mm width, and 1504mm height, with a generous wheelbase of 2705mm, accompanied by a 150mm ground clearance, and a kerb weight ranging from 1655 to 1685kg, while also providing a spacious 363-litre boot space, expandable to a capacious 1177 litres.
The price of the MG4 EV in Nepal is NRs. 41.49 Lakhs for the Comfort trim and NRs. 58.99 Lakhs for the Luxury trim. It is available in six distinct colours: Blue, Black, Orange, White, Grey, and Red. It is available with five different driving modes: Eco, Sport, Snow, Custom, and Standard. The MG4 EV's arrival is a promising sign of things to come, and it paves the way for a brighter, more sustainable future for Nepal's automotive industry.
