Kia’s flagship three-row electric SUV, the EV9, has been officially unveiled in the Nepalese market. Continental Associates, the official distributor of Kia vehicles in Nepal, is set to launch the electric EV9 in Nepal shortly. This seven-seater SUV, configured with a 2+3+2 seating layout, is constructed on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) developed by the Hyundai Motor Group. Interestingly, this platform is shared with the Hyundai Ioniq 5. This EV comes with cutting-edge technology, impressive design, and powerful performance.
The Kia EV9 is powered by a state-of-the-art electric drivetrain that delivers both impressive performance and remarkable efficiency. It is powered by a 283kW permanent magnet synchronous motor that generates a max power of 379 PS and a max torque of 701Nm. It is equipped with a 99.8 kWh liquid-cooled Lithium-Ion battery. It boasts a claimed WLTP range of 512 km or a real-world EVDB range of 435 km. It has an 11kW AC Charger, fully charging in 10-11 hours. Plus, it supports 210 kW DC fast charging, reaching 10-80% in only 22 minutes.
The Kia EV9 SUV is bold and unapologetically modern with a commanding presence. It boasts a distinctive SUV design characterised by sleek lines and smooth surfaces. Its exterior is adorned with LED lighting throughout, enhancing visibility and style. The SUV's iconic digital tiger face grille is further emphasized by striking digital pattern lighting, complemented by vertical headlamps and a GT-Line trim for added flair. It comes with a 12.3-inch cluster display, a 5-inch segment display, and a 12.3-inch infotainment system display.
The EV9 boasts an array of safety features, complemented by Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), to enhance passenger safety. Alongside seven airbags, the vehicle is equipped with ABS, ESC, DBC, HAC, and TSA, all contributing to heightened safety levels. Additionally, it comes equipped with six speakers, Bluetooth featuring voice activation, and drive modes complemented by paddle shifters and cruise control. For added convenience, parking is made simpler with the inclusion of front and rear parking sensors, along with a rearview camera.
The Kia EV9 provides generous room for both passengers and cargo. It boasts dimensions of 5010 mm length, 1980 mm width, and 1755 mm height, with a wheelbase of 3100 mm. It offers 199 mm ground clearance and weighs 2625 kg. With a 333-litre boot space expandable to 2393 litres and a 52-litre front trunk, it offers ample storage versatility. It also features a wireless charger with six power outlets, dual-zone automatic front air conditioning, and single-zone automatic rear air conditioning.
The price of Kia EV9 in Nepal is NRs 1.80 Crore. It will be available in six colour options, including Aurora Black Pearl, Matte Ivory Silver, Gloss Ivory Silver, Matte Panthera Metal, Gloss Pebble Grey, and Snow White Pearl. Although the pricing information has been finalized, the complete specifications will be disclosed shortly. The SUV is currently open for pre-booking at the nearest Kia showroom in Nepal.
