Nissan has confirmed to replace the slow-selling Micra with a new all-electric model. Meaning, Nissan's next Micra will be electric-only. Nissan Micra supermini will be based on a new EV platform shared with Renault as part of an investment in electrification over the next five years announced by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. The all-new electric Nissan Micra is set to be launched in 2024. According to the latest report, the electric Nissan Micra in Nepal will be launched afterward. These new five platforms will underpin 35 new cars by 2030.
The platform is set to develop new batteries for electric Nissan Micra that can accommodate to provide a 400 KM range. That's from a battery of just over 50kWh. Nissan Motor recently revealed the teaser video of an electric car with a friendly-looking front end which features big round LED daylight running lights including three horizontal headlight clusters in the middle, LEDs placed on each side of the bumper, and an illuminated Nissan logo between the headlights. The car also includes a short hood, "hidden" rear door handles, and a sizable roof spoiler.
For now, Nissan hasn't revealed anything more about the new EV. The company is set to reveal the new electric car with product information, technical details, and launch timing in the coming days. According to the latest reports, Nissan plans to debut the electric hatchback in Nepal by 2025. It's also got excellent aerodynamics, the companies claim. The all-new electric Nissan Micra will get more expensive than its petrol model. Renault and Nissan already sold a million electric cars between them.
Nissan chief operating officer Ashwani Gupta said: “This all-new model will be designed by Nissan and engineered and manufactured by Renault using our new common platform, maximizing the use of our Alliance assets while maintaining its Nissan-ness.”
“This is a great example of the Alliance’s ‘smart differentiation’ approach. Succeeding our iconic Micra, I am sure this new model will provide further excitement to our customers.”
“The Alliance is stronger than ever,” Jean-Dominique Senard, chairman of the Alliance, said. The money for electrification and connectivity projects represents “massive investments that none of the three companies could make alone,” Senard said.
