Japanese carmaker Honda is all set to launch the new generation 5-seat SUV in Nepal. According to the latest report, Honda is planning to expand its Nepalese product portfolio with two new models including Honda City Hybrid and a mid-size SUV. The new Honda SUV could be launched in Nepal by the end of 2022 followed by the Honda City Hybrid. Honda’s upcoming mid-size SUV will be positioned against the cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun.

Honda’s new 5-seat SUV is likely to be powered by the 1.5-liter petrol motor, 4-cylinder, i-VTEC engine that is capable of generating 121 hp of max power and 145 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options could include a 5-speed manual and CVT automatic. Honda City Hybrid is likely to be powered by 1.5-liter petrol mild-hybrid powertrain based on Honda’s e: HEV platform which could be equipped with this same powertrain as a new SUV. Honda's new SUV could be around 4.2 meters in length and share its platform with the City sedan.

Honda City Hybrid and a mid-size SUV are set to come with a host of features including angular wraparound headlamps, a new front grille and bumper with a wide air dam, fog lamps with vertical slats, tapering roofline, black plastic cladding, matte black alloy wheels, a contrast roof, slim horizontally positioned LED taillamps and angular tailgate. Honda is also likely to feature a 10.2-inch digital dial display along with a nine-inch touchscreen and 12-speaker Bose sound system for top-spec models.

Honda has confirmed that it is working to launch a new SUV in Nepal. However, not many details are available currently. The new Honda SUV is reported to hit the showrooms at the end of 2022 or the second half of 2023. More details on the upcoming new Honda mid-size SUV are likely to be revealed in the coming days. We can expect pricing to slide between the HR-V and the all-new CR-V.
