The second-generation Kia Niro electric SUV has been teased ahead of its public debut. The new Niro is different in every conceivable way compared to the previous model. According to the company, the second-gen Niro is expected to make it to the Nepalese market by 2022. Bearing similarities design from the HabaNiro Concept the new Niro design looks more modern from every angle. Just in case if you are wondering the HabaNiro concept is a fully-electric, all-wheel drive, four-seat wonder car with an All-Electric Range (AER) of more than 300 miles, level-five autonomous mode, butterfly wing doors, and more advanced tech.

Kia has said that the new Niro will be offered with hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and pure-electric powertrains. The new generation of Kia Niro will be based on the same architecture as the Hyundai Kona Electric, and will likely be offered in Nepal with the two battery packs 39.2 kWh and 64 kWh along with the 100 kW electric motor. Just like Kona Electric, we expect Kia to launch the new-gen Niro with the smaller battery pack here in Nepal. The new Niro is equipped with a 100 kW electric motor with 395 Nm of torque. It can travel up to 452 km on a single full charge.

The new Kia Niro comes with a host of features including bi-function LED headlights, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, UVO connected-car tech, JBL premium sound system, front and rear parking sensors, heated front and rear outer seats, ventilated seats, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster and much more. It automatically switches the car to its EV drive mode when passing green zones like residential areas, schools, and hospitals. We can see the rear LED tail-lights in the new Niro that resemble the Kia Habaniro concept car.

Kia Niro will debut internationally in 2022 and it is likely to come to Nepal in the same year.  We will have to wait for quite a while and let’s see what the Korean carmaker brings us next. Once launched in Nepal, It should take on the likes of Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV. We can expect technical details to be revealed once the new Kia Niro goes on sale in the International markets in 2022. However, the new version is expected to be offered with tons of new equipment, safety tech, more modern design as well as an affordable price range.
