The long-anticipated MG Hector SUV is all set to makes of official debut in India on May 15, 2020, but the date is yet to be confirmed for the Nepalese market. The new premium compact SUV will be the first model to be launched by the Chinese-owned British brand in India, which is all set to begin its local operations this year. A lot has been already revealed about the all-new MG Hector and based on some of the recently surfaced spy images, we already know what the new premium compact SUV looks like. And here's everything that you can expect from the upcoming MG Hector.

Based on a bunch of teasers released by the carmaker and spy photos, the MG Hector's visual appearance is no longer a secret. The SUV appears to be quite premium and well-equipped, offering features like low-set LED projector headlamps, a larger black mesh grille, high mounted LED daytime running lamps and a wide central airdam. The grille and the headlamps assembly are bordered by brushed silver inserts, which in the case of the top-end model will be chrome. Also, the lower-spec model comes with a set of standard silver alloy wheels, while the top-end trim features a set of dual tone diamond cut alloys, which also seem to be a tad bigger. The MG Hector will also get LED turn signal lights integrated into the electrically operable ORVMs, and large silver roof rails, along with shark-fin antenna. The rear section features a large tailgate with a high-mounted spoiler, rear windshield wiper, simple looking LED taillamps and a muscular rear bumper with silver skid plate.

The MG Hector will also be one of the first connected cars to be launched in India and will come with a new advanced connectivity technology called i-Smart next-generation system. It's an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based completely integrated solution that combines software, hardware, connectivity, services, and application. The iSmart connectivity system comes with advanced features like - smart application, built-in Apps, Real-Time Navigation, Remote Location, Geo-Fencing, Emergency Response and much more. It also comes with pre-loaded apps including TomTom IQ Maps, Gaana Premium, and AccuWeather app, in addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In fact, like a smartphone, the system also over-the-air (OTA) downloads function to keep the software up-to-date.

The highlight of this smart infotainment system is the large, highly intuitive 10.4-inch full-HD vertical touchscreen from Cisco. The system also comes with a voice assistant, so like saying Hey Google, here you can activate the in-car control system by saying "Hello, MG". In fact, the assistant adapts to Indian-English pronunciation so the car system can hear you correctly. For full-time connectivity, the system also comes with a first machine to machine embedded sim, along with the SUV Internet Protocol version 6 makes it 5G-ready, making it future-proof.

While we are still awaiting the official announcement on the technical details, we know that the new MG Hector SUV will come in both petrol and diesel engine options. The range is expected to include a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine, that latter being the Fiat-sourced oil burner that was introduced in the Jeep Compass. Transmission options could include both manual and automatic option.  Upon launch, the Hector SUV will compete with the likes of the Tata HarrierJeep Compass and even the Hyundai Tucson.
