The electric vehicle (EV) revolution is gaining momentum globally, and Nepal is no exception. Among the exciting new entrants into the market, Ather Energy is all set to launch the much-anticipated Ather Rizta electric scooter in Nepal. Vaidya Energy, the official distributor of Ather scooters in Nepal, is preparing to introduce the family-oriented Ather Rizta to the Nepali market. It is speculated that this launch will take place at the NADA Auto Show 2024. The Rizta is a distinct departure from Ather's well-known 450 series. It comes with innovative features, impressive performance, and eco-friendly design.
The Ather Rizta comes in three distinct variants: the Rizta S and two Rizta Z models, each offering different battery capacities. Every variant of the Ather Rizta is equipped with a 4.3 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor that generates a maximum power of 5.8 PS and a max torque of 22 Nm. The Rizta offers two battery options: the Rizta S as the base variant, and the Rizta Z as the mid-spec and top variant, each with varying battery capacities.
The Rizta S features a 2.9 kWh battery that charges from 0 to 80% in 5 hours and 45 minutes, offering a certified range of 123 km. Similarly, the mid-spec Rizta Z is also equipped with a 2.9 kWh battery with the same charging time and range specifications as the Rizta S. The top variant, known as Rizta Z, is equipped with a 3.7 kWh battery that charges from 0 to 80% in 5 hours and 45 minutes, providing a certified range of 159 km. Moreover, every variant of the Rizta includes dual riding modes: SmartEco and Zip Mode.
Setting new benchmarks in the electric scooter segment, the Ather Rizta integrates cutting-edge technology and boasts modern features. It comes equipped with a distinctive LED headlamp complemented by sleek integrated turn signals, while its rear view is defined by a prominent LED tail lamp also featuring integrated turn signals.
The Ather Rizta boasts advanced features such as an IP66-rated motor and IP67-rated battery, a 7-inch DeepView display (IP65-rated), Cortex Series with 8GB ROM / 1GB RAM, a 15-degree gradeability, auto hold, reverse mode, and automatic indicator cut-off, among other cutting-edge functionalities.
Regarding safety, the Ather Rizta has a front disc brake paired with a rear drum brake. It features a combined braking system enhanced with a magic twist mechanism. Additional safety enhancements encompass skid control, side stand sensors, reverse mode, automatic indicator cut-off, emergency stop signal (ESS), and a fail-safe mechanism. It features telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear to manage its suspension system.
The Ather Rizta measures 1850 mm in length, 750 mm in width, and stands at a height of 1140 mm, with a wheelbase of 1285 mm. It offers a ground clearance of 165 mm and weighs 119 kg. Notably, it provides a generous under-seat storage capacity of 34 litres. It accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in an impressive 4.7 seconds. It features tubeless tyres with a size of 90/90-12, equipped with a front disc brake and a rear drum brake.
The Ather Rizta price in Nepal has not been disclosed yet. The anticipated starting price for the Ather Rizta in Nepal is expected to range from Rs. 3.10 Lakhs to Rs. 4 Lakhs. It will most likely debut at the NADA Auto Show 2024. The Ather Rizta is positioned to rival the Segway E125 in the Nepalese electric scooter market. The warranty specifics are still under wraps and have yet to be disclosed. With its blend of striking design, powerful performance, and advanced technology, it promises to redefine how we perceive electric scooters.
