Tata Motors is all set to launch the Tigor EV in Nepal in the coming days. It is the most affordable electric vehicle in the carmaker's lineup. The Tata Tigor EV is built on Ziptron technology and is available in four variants- XE, XM, XZ+, and XZ+ DT. The electric sedan has also received a 4-star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests and has shared the same powertrain as the Nexon EV. According to the company, the new Tigor EV is based on the standard Tigor facelift that was introduced last year.
The new Tata Tigor EV comes with an IP67-rated 26kWh battery pack and an electric motor that generates a peak power output of 55 kW and a peak torque of 170 Nm. These output figures allow for a 0 to 60kph time of 5.7 seconds (claimed). It has an ARAI-claimed range of 306km. The 2021 Tigor EV can be charged from 0-80 percent within an hour via fast charging and in 8.5 hours with a home charger as well as slow charged from any 15 A plug point. It also comes with an 8-year or 1.6 lakh km battery and motor warranty.
In terms of styling, the new Tigor EV is based on the standard Tigor facelift. The Tigor EV gets blue highlights inside the headlamps and on the 14-inch stylized steel wheels. The new Tigor EV gets projector headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lamps auto AC, a height-adjustable driver seat, a 7-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. In terms of safety, the EV packs all the necessary safety bits like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, options rear parking camera, and seat belt reminder among others.
The Tigor EV is available in two color options – Daytona Grey and Signature Teal Blue. Once launched in Nepal, Tigor EV will be the most affordable EV available to private buyers in Nepal. The Tigor EV price in Nepal is yet to be revealed. While it doesn’t have any direct rivals, it will go up against the upcoming Mahindra KUV100 EV.
