2022 Yamaha MT-15 To Be Launched in Nepal With USD Forks And New Features

Yamaha Motors is all set to launch its popular entry-level performance-oriented bikes Yamaha MT15 in Nepal with updated new features. Yamaha is expected to bring a new model of MT-15 in Nepal from next month. The new MT-15 is set to come with a couple of eminent features including a Bluetooth connectivity-enabled instrument console, upside-down forks, and a telescopic suspension setup. A new limited-edition Yamaha MT-15 has been recently launched in Thailand and it looks even more striking than before.


The Bluetooth-based connectivity features on MT-15 display a range of information such as traction control on/off, gear position, gear shift timing indicator, track/street mode, lap timings, average mileage, average speed, coolant temperature, and so on. It also gets the Y-Connect app, once connected, the instrument cluster screen will display information such as call alerts, SMS and email notification as well as phone battery levels. This app also helps to get a wide range of info such as fuel consumption tracker and, last parking location.


Yamaha MT15 will be equipped with USD forks at the front. USD forks help riders by ensuring better control and handling at high speed, cornering, and during braking. The bike gets the monocross suspension at the rear which will be the same as the current model. Yamaha is set to introduce Dual-channel ABS in the new MT-15. The current model is offered with single-channel ABS. Braking duties are performed by 282 mm disc at the front and 220 mm disc at the rear. 


Yamaha launched the BS6-compliant model of MT-15 back in February 2020. MT-15 is powered by the same BS6-compliant 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that can generate a maximum power of 18.5HP @ 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 13.9Nm @ 8,500 rpm. The engine remains mated to a 6-speed transmission. The bike comes with features like bi-functional LED headlights, blacked-out elements, sculpted fuel tank, rugged engine guard, chrome-tipped exhaust, uni-level seat with grab bar, and raised LED tail light.


Yamaha has not yet announced the precise date for the launch of the new MT-15. The starting price of Yamaha MT-15 in Nepal is NRs. 4.59 lakhs and after the integration of important features, it is likely to come with revised prices. It will compete in the Nepalese market with the likes of TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, KTM 125 Duke, and Bajaj Pulsar NS 200. MAW Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. is the only authorized distributor of Yamaha bikes and scooters in Nepal.
