2020 has been full of surprises that no one, not a single one, has ever asked for and we still got to deal with the worst pandemic in recent history. We’re just a couple of weeks away from ending this horrendous year. Months after the lockdown was lifted, the two-wheeler industry appears to be stabilizing and register a few positive figures in the Nepalese market. This would not have been possible without a timely launch, festive season sales, and extensive updates to some of the bikes. If you’re looking for a new set of two wheels, here is the list of bikes up to 200cc that were launched this year:
KTM 200/125 Duke:
KTM had a little surprise planned for us enthusiasts when it suddenly launched its BS6 model lineup in the Nepalese market. KTM 200 Duke is a commuter bike that is currently available in 1 variant in Nepal. KTM 200 Duke generates 24.6 bhp of power and 19.2 nm of torque from its 199.5cc engine which has a 6-speed manual gearbox. It is inspired by its elder sibling, the 390 Duke. Likewise, KTM launched the 2021 125 Duke in Nepal. The brand launched the bike with the same design as the Duke 200, albeit with new color options.
Honda Hornet 2.0:
Honda has been busy in the making of few motorbikes since the beginning of the year. One of the many two-wheelers it launched in 2020 is the new Hornet 2.0. It’s been styled to carry the essence of the older Hornet and the bike’s been developed to compete in the market with 200cc motorcycle. As of now, the bike is yet to be launched in the Nepalese market. Honda Hornet 2.0 generates 17.03 bhp of power and 16.1 nm of torque from its 184.4cc engine. Braking duties are covered by both front and rear disc brakes, Honda Hornet 2.0 comes up with an anti-lock braking system.
Hero Xtreme 160R:
According to the various report available, the Xtreme 160R is one of the best motorcycles launched this year. Hero Xtreme 160R generates 15 bhp of power and 14 nm of torque from its 163cc engine which has a 5-speed manual gearbox. Braking duties are covered by front disc and rear drum brakes, as well as Hero Xtreme 160R comes up with an anti-locking braking system. The Xtreme 160R is Hero’s newest entrant in the 150-160cc sporty commuter segment in Nepal. Hero offers the Xtreme 160R in three colour options- red, white and blue.
Bajaj Dominar 250:
The Dominar 250 is an amazing tourer the is currently available across a certain part of the Asian market. The bike is yet to be launched in the Nepalese market. The new Dominar 250 is inspired by Dominar 400. Mechanical specifications on the Dominar 250 include a 248.77cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC, and four-valve engine. The engine is tuned to produce 26.6bhp at 8,500rpm and 23.5Nm at 6,500rpm. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed transmission aided by a slipper clutch. Fuel tank capacity remains unchanged at 13-litres. There are several changes in hardware as well.
