Datsun has officially launched the BS6-compliant 2020 model of the Redi-GO hatchback in the market with a starting price tag of 2.83 lakh(Indian). In terms of the design, the 2020 model features bold and sporty exteriors as visible in the official images. The front end of the car is all-new as the grille is now bigger than the one on the last-gen model with chrome surround. The new model features large L-shaped DRLs that look pretty smart when compared to the tiny optional ones that were available on the BS4 model.
The hatchback’s overall tall-body design remains unchanged but the new model features an integrated spoiler at the rear to enhance the sportiness in the design. The interiors of the car have also been updated and now features an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Mechanically, the car gets BS6-compliant 0.8-litre (54HP/72Nm) and 1.0-litre (68HP/91Nm) petrol engine options. They are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox along with an option of AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) for the 1.0-litre petrol variant. The ARAI-certified mileage figure for the 0.8L MT model is 20.7kmpl, the 1.0L MT model returns 21.7kmpl and the mileage for the top-spec 1.0L AMT model stands at 22kmpl.
Engine options remain unchanged compared to the outgoing model, as both the 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engines have been upgraded to meet the BS6 emission norms. The latter, however, is only available on the top-spec T(O) variant. Both engines can be had with a 5-speed manual, though only the 1.0-litre can be had with an AMT automatic gearbox. The new Datsun Redigo is available in four trim levels.
