MG Motor is all set to launch its new 5-seater SUV, MG Astor, in Nepal. According to Paramount Motors, the authorized distributor of MG vehicles in Nepal, booking for this impressive SUV is set to commence in the coming days, with delivery scheduled to begin by early May. In the world of SUVs, the MG Astor is a breath of fresh air. MG Astor is a well-balanced, compact SUV with a good mix of design, quality, performance, and safety. The MG Motor offers Astor in four different trims including Style, Super, Smart, and Sharp but it is still unclear which of these trims will make it to the Nepalese market. We can rest assured that the MG Astor will offer a truly impressive driving experience no matter which trim is chosen.
MG Astor comes with two petrol engine options - 1.5L VTi-TECH and 1.4L TURBO. The 1.4-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine generates a maximum power of 138 bhp at 5600 rpm and max torque of 220 Nm at 3600 rpm and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Then the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine generates a maximum power of 108 bhp at 6000 rpm and a max torque of 144 Nm at 4400 rpm. It is mated to either a manual gearbox or an eight-step CVT gearbox. The suspension duties are handled by MacPherson Strut at the front and Torsion Beam at the rear. It is also equipped with all four-disc brakes.
The MG Astor is a beautifully designed vehicle. Its sleek and aerodynamic shape is complemented by a bold and aggressive front grille. It comes with LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lights, fog lights with cornering function, a new grille, 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, a shark-fin antenna, a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, AI-driven features with voice command-based functions and a seven-inch fully-digital instrument cluster. It is also equipped with automatic climate control and rain-sensing wipers.
The MG Astor SUV also comes with a host of safety features. It comes with the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) which includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping/departure assist, rear cross-traffic alert, high-beam assist, and blind spot detection. It is equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, brake assist, a 360-degree camera, traction control, hill hold/descent control, a tire pressure monitoring system and disc brakes on all wheels. It also gets a fully powered driver's seat, and an electronic parking brake. It also offers over 80 internet features, including Wikipedia, jokes, news, festival GIFS, navigation, online music streaming and many more.
The MG Astor price in Nepal is expected to be around NRs.50 - NRs.70 Lakhs. It is available in five different colours - Spiced Orange, Aurora Silver, Glaze Red, Candy White, and Starry Black. MG Astor will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Nissan Kicks, and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.
