The Tata Tiago is a popular electric vehicle (EV) that has gained a lot of attention in the automotive market. Sipradi Trading Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor of Tata vehicles in Nepal, is all set to launch the new all-electric Tiago EV in Nepal. Tata will open bookings for the Tiago EV in the coming days with deliveries to commence from February 2023. Once launched in Nepal, the Tiago EV will be the most affordable electric car in Nepal. Not only is it a stylish and affordable option, but it also has a range of features that make it an appealing choice for eco-conscious consumers.

The Tata Tiago EV delivers smooth and responsive acceleration in terms of performance. It comes with a choice of two battery packs that include 19.2kWh and 24kWh battery options, paired with an electric motor. The smaller unit is paired with a 45 kW motor that develops 61 PS and 105 Nm of peak torque while the larger pack comes paired with a stronger 55 kW motor developing 75 PS and 114 Nm. The smaller pack offers a claimed range of up to 250 km per charge while the larger pack offers a range of up to 315 km. It has a top speed of around 120 km/h, which is more than sufficient for city driving.

Charging the battery is easy, too - you can use a standard household outlet or a faster Level 2 charger to get back on the road in no time. The Tiago EV supports four charging options: a 15A socket charger, a 3.3kW AC charger, a 7.2kW AC charger, and a DC fast charger. The charging periods for both batteries include:

  • 15A Socket Charger: 6.9 hours (19.2kWh), 8.7 hours (24kWh)
  • 3.3kW AC Charger: 5.1 hours (19.2kWh), 6.4 hours (24kWh)
  • 7.2kW AC Charger: 2.6 hours (19.2kWh), 3.6 hours (24kWh)
  • DC Fast Charger: 10-80 per cent in 57 minutes for both

This compact hatchback has a sleek and modern look, with sharp lines and a sporty profile. It is equipped with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a four-speaker Harman sound system, auto AC, foldable ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers, steering-mounted controls, and regenerative braking. Another standout feature of the Tata Tiago EV is its advanced safety systems. It comes equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, cornering brake control, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rear-view camera, and electronic stability control.

The Tiago EV is offered in four trims: XE, XT, XZ+, and XZ+ Tech Lux. The XE and XT trims get the 19.2kWh battery pack, while the XT, XZ+ and XZ+ Tech Lux trims get the 24kWh battery pack. It does not have any direct competitors in the Nepalese market for now but will rival the Citroen C3 EV. It's available in a range of colours, so you can choose the one that best suits your style. It has a spacious and comfortable cabin, with plenty of legroom for passengers and a large trunk for storage. According to Tata Motors, the Tiago EV price in Nepal is expected to be around NRs. 28 lakhs (starting price).

Overall, the Tata Tiago EV is a great choice for those who want an affordable and stylish electric vehicle that's packed with sporty design and modern features. Its range and performance make it suitable for daily commuting, and its advanced safety systems provide peace of mind on the road. It's also a great option for those who want to make a positive impact on the environment while enjoying the benefits of a high-quality car. If you're in the market for an EV, be sure to give the Tata Tiago a closer look.
