Luxury interior and advanced technology set a new benchmark for electric SUVs in Nepal
Kia Motors, through its official Nepal distributor Continental Trading Pvt. Ltd, has brought the highly anticipated EV5 electric SUV to Nepal. The first two units arrived in November, marking the beginning of Kia’s electric revolution in the country. Initially showcased at the NAIMA Mobility Expo, the EV5’s entry was slightly delayed but has now officially hit the Nepalese roads.
Built on Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP platform, the Kia EV5 takes design cues from Kia’s flagship EV9. It features a closed-off front grille, hidden door handles, Star Map signature lights, and 19-inch alloy wheels that give it a bold presence. The rear features J-shaped LED tail lights and gloss black body cladding, adding a premium feel.
Vehicle Dimensions
Length 4,615 mm
Width 1,875 mm
Height 1,715 mm
Wheelbase 2,750 mm
Inside, the EV5 boasts dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and digital instruments, plus a dedicated 5-inch digital climate control system with physical buttons for easy operation.
The EV5 is powered by a 160 kW electric motor, delivering strong performance on city roads and highways. While the battery range for Nepal is yet to be confirmed, global specifications promise an efficient and smooth electric driving experience.
While the EV5 starts at $20,000 in China, the Nepal arrival comes with a staggering price tag of $41,933. After including taxes and customs duties, the total price is expected to exceed NPR 1 crore, almost double the cost of a typical compact SUV in Nepal. This high pricing may explain why the official sales schedule has not yet been announced.
Continental Trading confirms that the EV5 will officially go on sale in Nepal in 2026. Currently, only two units are in the country. Final pricing, specifications, and configurations are still under review. Sales are likely to begin in the first quarter of 2026 once all details are finalized.
The Kia EV5 offers a mix of luxury, technology, and practicality for Nepalese buyers:
Dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instrument cluster
5-inch digital climate control with physical buttons
Hidden door handles and Star Map LED lighting
Spacious and premium interior design
The arrival of the Kia EV5 signals a new era for electric mobility in Nepal. With futuristic design, advanced technology, and a high-performance electric powertrain, the EV5 is set to redefine the premium electric SUV market despite its premium pricing.
