75% discount on late renewal fines for vehicles in Lumbini Province
Offer valid from Shrawan 1 to Poush 30, 2082
Full tax payment is required, but only 25% of the penalty applies
Goal: Encourage legal renewals and reduce unregistered vehicles
Minister Nyaupane aims to boost road safety and increase revenue
EVs, bikes, cars – all vehicle categories are eligible
The Lumbini Province Government has rolled out a new policy offering a 75% waiver on penalties for vehicles that missed their renewal deadline. This scheme runs from Shrawan 1, 2082 (mid-July 2025) to Poush 30, 2082 (mid-January 2026).
If your vehicle registration has expired, this is your window to save money and get legal again.
Anyone with a vehicle—bike, scooter, car, jeep, van, or EV registered in Lumbini Province and overdue for renewal qualifies.
You just need to:
Pay your full vehicle tax
Pay only 25% of the total penalty (the remaining 75% is waived)
No other conditions. No hidden fees.
According to Transport Minister Prachanda Bikram Nyaupane, this scheme has two clear goals:
Encourage vehicle owners to complete overdue renewals
Reduce illegal and unsafe vehicles on the roads
Unrenewed vehicles often skip inspections and insurance, increasing accident risks. The waiver helps bring them back into the legal fold.
In the last fiscal year, Lumbini Province collected:
NPR 23.52 crore from vehicle and driver’s license renewals
That’s only about 60% of the expected revenue
The government knows there’s a big gap and this penalty waiver is meant to close it.
