38 transport offices across Nepal have resumed driving license services
Four offices in Hetauda, Pokhara, Chaurjahari, and Surkhet are still under repair
Online system fully restored after server damage during Bhadra 24 protests
Citizens can apply for new licenses, renewals, and take trial exams
Department monitoring application volume to manage backlog efficiently
After a two-month suspension due to damage caused during the Bhadra 24 protests, licensing services have restarted in 38 transport offices across the country. The Department of Transport Management repaired the damaged servers and restored the online system, allowing citizens to apply for new licenses and renew existing ones without hassle.
Four transport offices in Hetauda, Pokhara, Chaurjahari, and Surkhet remain closed because of extensive damage to buildings and equipment. The department is actively working on repairs and expects to reopen these offices soon, ensuring full coverage for all licensing services nationwide.
With services resuming, citizens can now complete:
New driving license applications
License renewals
Trial exams previously postponed
Some offices have already restarted trial exams, while others are finalizing preparations to resume them shortly.
Normally, Nepal sees around 6,000 to 7,000 driving license applications daily. The two-month closure created a backlog, so the department is closely monitoring application numbers. Decisions on quota adjustments will be made based on daily demand to prevent system overload and ensure smooth processing.
Most transport offices are now operational, allowing residents to complete their license applications and renewals efficiently. The remaining four offices will reopen once building repairs are finished, making licensing services fully accessible across Nepal.
This update ensures citizens regain access to essential licensing services while the department manages high demand and backlogs professionally.
