KTM RC 160 Nears Launch After Being Spied in Testing

The upcoming KTM RC 160 has finally made a road appearance, confirming that the lightweight supersport is almost ready to break cover. The test unit looked polished enough to signal that KTM is in the last stretch before its big debut. With Bajaj now fully steering the KTM brand, the partnership is clearly preparing something exciting for 2026.

A New Gap Filler in the KTM Supersport Lineup

The RC 160 sits perfectly between the RC 125 and RC 200. KTM designed this motorcycle to give riders a sharper step-up option without jumping to a bigger displacement. It uses the same platform as the 2025 Duke 160, which officially launched in September 2025. For riders wanting KTM aggression in a more accessible package, the RC 160 is shaping up to be the sweet spot.

Design Stays True to KTM DNA

The spy shots show the RC 160 in the signature black and orange color combination. The bike features the iconic trellis frame architecture and a bolt-on rear subframe similar to the bigger RC models. Black USD forks, aerodynamic fairings and a slim but muscular silhouette keep it unmistakably KTM.

Sport Ready Features Loaded for Young Riders

KTM is not holding back on hardware. The RC 160 test mule reveals clip-on handlebars, fairing-mounted mirrors, a monoshock rear suspension and lightweight 17-inch alloy wheels. Expect a large front disc, dual channel ABS, split seats and integrated grab rails.

The bike is also expected to pack a 5-inch LCD display, Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. KTM knows its young audience wants tech and is ready to deliver.

164 cc Engine Built for Punchy Performance

The beating heart of the RC 160 is a 164 cc liquid-cooled single cylinder engine. Early numbers suggest 19 PS power and 15.5 Nm torque. A 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch support smoother shifting and a more confident ride feel. This setup puts the RC 160 in a strong performance zone for daily rides and weekend thrills.

Direct Rival to Yamaha R15

When the RC 160 arrives, it will enter straight into battle with the Yamaha R15, a long-time king of the entry-level supersport category. KTM brings more power, a sturdier chassis and a more aggressive riding character. The rivalry is about to get spicy and riders will have more choices in this hot segment.

Expected Launch Timeline

The spied model looks close to final production which hints at a public introduction in the first quarter of 2026. The timing fits perfectly with KTM and Bajaj's next product wave.

A Fresh New Player in the 160 cc Supersport Class

The KTM RC 160 aims to be a game changer for riders wanting sharp styling, modern features and track-friendly handling in a manageable 160 cc package. With punchy performance, premium components and aggressive looks, this bike is gearing up to hit the market strong.
