KTM 390 Adventure is one of the much-awaited bikes in Nepal, and as per the latest details available, the official launch will happen in December this year. So this means that most probably we will see the launch of 390 Adventure happen in India at first after its official unveiling at the EICMA 2019.

The Duke 790’s launch has been postponed due to delay in its homologation process so the company is shifting its focus towards the launch of 390 Adventure. The Husqvarna motorcycles are also expected to launch in November.

The KTM 390 Adventure was recently spotted testing which reveals much about its exterior design. The bike appeared to be running on a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel. The production-ready model that was seen testing was equipped with touring-oriented accessories which raised the question that whether there will be a pure touring focused version or an off-road based variant with spoked wheels. It seems like KTM is working on multiple variants of the 390 Adventure.

Mechanically, the KTM 390 Adventure will use the same engine as in the 390 Duke. The 373.2cc motor is capable of producing 44 HP of maximum power and 37 Nm of peak torque. Though we can expect the engine to be tuned differentially, maybe we can see an increase in torque so as to make the bike more adventure specific.

Talking about the comfort, the seat of the bike looks wide and high whereas the distance between the tyre and rear seat confirms extended suspension travel on the upcoming model. Moreover, it has got an ample amount of ground clearance. The handlebar of the test mule can be seen equipped with knuckle guards and its lower section features crash protectors.

What could also change on the 390 Adventure is the gearing to make it more capable off-road than outright acceleration on tarmac. Expect a decent cruising speed to cover long distances over a day's ride, supported by more range from a slightly larger fuel tank as well. As for other features, we also see the bike with a nice and compact engine guard, slightly forwards-set footpegs, a pillion seat similar to the 390 Duke, a bit with longer grab rails, and a set of dual-purpose tires.

The KTM 390 Adventure will take on the BMW G 310 GS and the Royal Enfield Himalayan in the segment with prices expected to be competitive. The 390 Adventure though will be the most affordable adventure touring motorcycle in its segment and will offer the Indian adventure motorcyclist a value-for-money motorcycle, which will be more suited for touring with some light off-road duty, rather than be a true-blue off-road motorcycle. So, it will be versatile and it promises a lot of value if priced right.
