Kathmandu Kicks Off 6-Month EV & Vehicle Maintenance Training Program

New 6-Month EV Maintenance OJT Program in Kathmandu

Kathmandu Metropolitan City is stepping up its commitment to clean transport by launching a six-month electric vehicle (EV) and general vehicle maintenance on-the-job training (OJT). This program targets 19 selected trainees who have already completed a prior EV basics course offered by the city.

Who Can Apply for the EV Maintenance Training in Kathmandu

To qualify:

  • You must have completed KMC’s earlier EV & vehicle repair training.

  • You need to apply online within 7 days of the official notice release.

  • Only 19 trainees will be selected for this round.

The program officially starts on Bhadra 1, 2082.


Hands-On Training Backed by Industry Partners

This isn’t a classroom lecture. It’s real-world, hands-on training. Trainees will work directly in garages, service centers, and industrial settings under supervision.

The training is conducted in partnership with:

  • Kathmandu Metropolitan City (Social Development Department)

  • Changu Narayan Foundation

  • Various auto companies and industrial firms

The goal: build a workforce ready for Nepal’s growing EV market.


What You’ll Learn During the OJT

The 6-month program covers:

  • Diagnosing and repairing EV systems and batteries

  • Electric motor servicing

  • Handling high-voltage EV components

  • General vehicle diagnostics and maintenance

  • Safety and environmental best practices

This experience gives trainees a solid foundation to work in the auto repair sector or start their own EV service business.
