Honda is setting new trends with its unique-looking two-wheeler range in the Nepalese market. Inspired by the Honda Grom, the Navi mini bike was introduced at the Auto Expo previous year. And the company recently launched the uniquely designed Cliq scooter. So, it won’t be wrong to say that Honda has been pretty aggressive in its product strategy. And it’s not just limited to our market, the Japanese two-wheeler giant has been doing it across all markets globally. But, there is one global product that we think would suit our market conditions is the stunning Honda 150SS Racer concept that broke the news.
Honda Motorcycles has unveiled an all-new concept named ‘150SS Racer’ at the 2017 Bangkok Motor Show. It comes with a muscular fuel tank while its headlight seems to be inspired from the old generation of SS motorcycles. Honda has not shared any details for the same but it could be assumed that most components of the motorcycle would stay the same way as the concept in its production-ready version.
The single-seat helps Honda get away with that short tail while the production-spec motorcycle could get a slightly longer rear end for the second seat. It comes with disc brakes for both the ends while the design of the small exhaust unit is exclusive to the 150SS Racer only. The fully digital instrument console sits right above the LED round headlight of the concept. It even gets tank shrouds for added muscle.
Unlike Honda CB Hornet 160R sold in Nepal, 150SS Racer has a different kind of appeal as it looks more into the category of round headlight premium motorcycles like Ducati Monster and Scrambler. Since its engine is liquid-cooled 150 cc unit, the maximum power production will stay under 20 PS for sure. Use of premium components like USD forks and adjustable mono-shock makes Honda 150SS Racer more interesting than ever.
Now, the internet broke with brochure scans of the 150SS Racer revealing engine and design details of the bike. The leaked scans confirm that the production version of the bike will feature a spilt-type LED headlamp with ‘Honda’ badge in the centre. The tail light and indicators will also get LED elements. The bike sits on 10-spoke, 17-inch alloy wheels that might shod with 110 and 140 section front and rear tyres respectively. There will be a fully digital instrument cluster that displays important information such as fuel level, fuel efficiency, trip readings, gear position, time, speed and revs.
