DSK Hyosung’s absence from the AUTO EXPO 2016 was disheartening. While DSK Benelli had set up a fascinating stand with their 4 new motorcycles, Hyosung was nowhere to be seen. However, a talk with Shirish Kulkarni, who heads both Benelli and Hyosung, shined a light on Hyosung’s future plans.
According to Kulkarni, Hyosung plans to launch 4 new motorcycles in Nepal over a period of 18 months. Out of the 4 Hyosung bikes, 3 will be released next year, staring from May. The 4th bike is expected to come out early 2021.Let's take a look at what Hyosung has in its bag:
This strongly built cruiser is all set to replace the existing GV250 Aquila. Only available in the shade of grey, the GV300 is powered by a 275 cc engine which churns out a maximum power of 26 horses at 8500 rpm and a max torque of 23.5 Nm at 7000 rpm. This Hyosung has a great deal of chrome finishing and blackened out engine and alloys. It is expected to come out in May with a price tag of 5 lakhs.
The GT300 is a fully faired, 2-cylinder, 275 cc sportsbike and will compete against the likes of Kawasaki Ninja 300, Yamaha YZF-R3, and Benelli Tornado 302. Kulkarni says it will come out in June/July next year. It is expected to be priced around 6 lakhs.
A rugged naked bike, the Hyosung GD450 gets its power from a liquid cooled 449 cc engine which churns out 49.3 bhp @ 7500 rpm and a maximum torque 47.7 NM @ 7000 rpm. Expected to launch late early next year, this bike will be priced around 5 lakhs.
