BMW Motorrad has officially launched two all-new models namely R1250R and R1250RT Pro. The new motorcycles are available at a price tag of 15.95 lakhs and 22.50 lakhs respectively in India and the motorcycle is yet to be launched in Nepal and the price has not been announced yet. The BMW R1250R is a roadster motorcycle whereas the R1250RT is a faired tourer and both of them are successors to the already existing models in the brand’s portfolio.
The pre-bookings for the two models have already been started at the BMW Motorrad dealerships present throughout India and Nepal. The new motorcycles will be retailed alongside the existing R1200R and R1200RT models. The R1250 series will be brought through CBU or Completely Built Unit route. In accordance with the name, the bikes are equipped with a 1254cc twin-cylinder boxer engine, which is similar to the one that is present in the R1250GS adventure motorcycle.
The BMW R1250RT has a variable camshaft control system called ‘BMW ShiftCam’ that promises a consistent power delivery throughout the entire power band as well as for swift cornering and immense torque on the straights. The R1250R and the R1250RT are powered by a 2-cylinder in-line Boxer engine that has a displacement of 1254cc. The engine is capable to offer a maximum power of 136HP at 7750 rpm and can churn out a peak torque of 143Nm at 6250 rpm, which is considerably more than the last-gen R1200 series.
The R1250R roadster features a large 6.5-inch colour TFT instrument console which comes teamed with BMW’s Connectivity feature. With the help of this feature, the riders can connect their smartphones to the console through Bluetooth as well as the BMW app. It enables the rider to receive calls, manage music controls through the switch gears. On the other hand, the BMW R1250RT has a 5.7-inch large colour TFT screen fringed by an analogue speedometer and a rev counter.
The BMW R 1250 RT is a touring motorcycle and it too gets subtle updates in terms of colours used. The motorcycle gets a dual-tone colour scheme of Blue Planet Metallic and Sparkling Storm Metallic. Apart from the new colour scheme, the R 1250 RT also features a few chrome elements such as handlebar weights, windshield trim and so on. One can also buy the R 1250 RT with a brown seat as well.
In terms of rider electronics, both motorcycles get two riding modes as standard along with automatic stability control, ABS and hill start control as well. Apart from the electronics, the R 1250 RT also gets tyre pressure control, cruise control, keyless ride along with optional features such as heated seats, riding modes pro and headlight pro package. The all-new BMW R 1250 R now has the equipment feature Connectivity as standard including a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen while the R 1250 RT gets a 5.7-inch TFT colour screen along with an analogue speedometer and rev counter.
