Bajaj Auto has filed for a new trademark for the name Freerider which is said to be the first electric bike from the company. Currently, Bajaj Auto has only one electric vehicle in the lineup. The other being Bajaj Chetak which is an electric scooter produced by the Bajaj Auto company. Bajaj company also recently successfully trademarked Fluir and Fluor, which could be the names of electric two-wheelers from Bajaj. However, as things stand this is purely speculation.
There are no specifics about where the newly registered name will be used. Rumors suggest that the "Freerider" could be a battery-powered motorcycle. It would make sense for Bajaj Auto to bring in an electric motorcycle in Nepal. It has witnessed terrific success with Bajaj Chetak electric across the Indian market. It is not available in the Nepalese market for now in case you were wondering.
Bajaj Auto is currently working on expanding the presence of Chetak electric scooters to the Nepalese market. So, the addition of another EV in its portfolio cannot possibly go wrong. Afer Bajaj Auto, Royal Enfield also has multiple names trademarked. It has the names like Sherpa, Hunter, Roadster, Shotgun, and the Scram. The upcoming Bajaj electric bike may be underpinned by the same platform as the Husqvarna e-Pilen, which was launched earlier this year. Bajaj who also registered Bajaj Fluor and Bajaj Fluir name are also said to be reserved for electric two-wheelers.
