The 2026 Toyota RAV4 marks a significant evolution in the compact SUV segment, introducing a fully electrified lineup, advanced technology integrations, and refined design elements. As Toyota's best-selling compact SUV, the sixth-generation RAV4 is poised to set new standards in performance, efficiency, and versatility.

Electrified Powertrains

Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV)

The 2026 RAV4 HEV utilizes Toyota's fifth-generation hybrid system, delivering improved performance and efficiency. The system pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motors, achieving a combined output of 236 horsepower in AWD configurations and 226 horsepower in FWD models. Notably, this marks the first time FWD is available in RAV4 Hybrid models.

Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV)

The RAV4 PHEV introduces a new plug-in hybrid system, combining a 2.5-liter engine with two electric motors and a high-capacity battery. This setup delivers a robust 320 horsepower and an estimated all-electric driving range of 50 miles, a 20% improvement over the previous generation. DC fast charging capabilities are available on XSE and Woodland grades, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in approximately 30 minutes.

Trim Levels and Design Variants

Core Design

The Core design encompasses the LE, XLE, and Limited grades, featuring a sleek, paint-matched grille and Toyota's signature hammerhead front end. Wheel options range from 17 to 20 inches, depending on the grade.

Rugged Design

Exclusive to the Woodland grade, the Rugged design includes a raised hammerhead front end, black split upper and lower grille with integrated LED lighting, and standard all-terrain tires. The model also features raised roof rails with crossbars and a rear activity mount for enhanced versatility.

Sport Design

The Sport design is highlighted by the introduction of the GR SPORT grade, developed in collaboration with Toyota GAZOO Racing. This model boasts GR-tuned suspension and power steering, enhanced body rigidity, and unique 20-inch wheels with increased offset. The GR SPORT is exclusively available with a PHEV powertrain. The SE and XSE grades complete the Sport lineup, offering a choice of HEV or PHEV powertrains and FWD or AWD configurations.

Technological Advancements

Arene Software Platform

The 2026 RAV4 debuts Toyota's Arene software development platform, enabling advanced features such as Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 and a new generation of the Toyota Audio Multimedia System. This platform supports enhanced voice recognition, over-the-air updates, and improved connectivity.

Multimedia and Instrumentation

A new 10.5-inch or available 12.9-inch touchscreen provides a modern interface for multimedia functions, including standard wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster offers customizable display options, while a Head-Up Display is available on select grades.

Interior and Comfort

The interior of the 2026 RAV4 emphasizes functionality and comfort, with features such as a shift-by-wire system, ergonomic center console, and various seating materials ranging from fabric to SofTex®. Color options include black, light gray, and the new Mineral color exclusive to the Woodland grade. The GR SPORT model features GR logos on the headrests and steering wheel, along with paddle shifters and aluminum sport pedals.

Exterior Styling

The exterior design showcases SUV proportions with large tires, elevated ride height, and a functional rear cargo area. Distinctive elements across grades include LED signature taillights, front and rear spoilers, and unique wheel treatments. New exterior colors such as Urban Rock, Meteor Shower, Everest, and Storm Cloud join the palette, with two-tone paint options available on select grades.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 comes standard across all grades, offering enhanced detection capabilities and updated hardware. The system includes features such as pre-collision warning, lane departure alert, adaptive cruise control, and more, contributing to a safer driving experience.

Towing and Utility

The 2026 RAV4 offers increased towing capacity on specific AWD grades, with the HEV XLE, Woodland, SE, XSE, Limited, and PHEV SE, XSE, and Woodland grades capable of towing up to 3,500 pounds. FWD models and the LE AWD grade have a towing capacity of 1,750 pounds.
