Most of us have experienced that dreadful moment when the vehicles simply refuses to start. As all we know that, Battery plays a big role for running the vehicles. From getting your vehicle started to charging your phone on-the-go, batteries provide the zap your vehicle needs to keep rolling. A vehicle battery typically lasts three to five years. One of the most important factors that affects how long a car battery will last is the weather. No matter what temperature you drive in, proper care of your car battery can help keep you going. Here are five ways to give your battery the TLC(tender loving care) it needs this summer:

1. Test Your Battery Often:

The battery is the main source of vehicle energy. Once in a week, we should test the circumstance of a battery and always remember to remove the acid that is frozen in a battery’s terminal. Dirt and grease act as insulators that trap the heat around the battery. Wiping it with a paper towel or cloth regularly helps prevent the build-up of energy-draining dirt. Remember, knowing the health of your car battery is important when you want to extend its life. Always, test your battery’s output voltage level with a battery tester.

2. Keep it Cool:

Always check the car battery water level indicator regularly and fill it with distilled water as needed. Since heat drains a vehicle’s battery, parking it in a cool or shaded spot can buy your battery extra time. Parking your vehicle in the garage at night can help protect the battery, even if just a bit. Don't have a garage? Park the front of the vehicle away from the main wind direction. Always be sure the battery is secure and sitting correctly.

3. Turn off all the Lights when you Exit:

Another cause of battery failure is light things. Accidentally keeping your headlights and car door lights on can put a heavy toll on your vehicle’s battery. To avoid being forgotten, put a note on the dash, put a reminder on your car's remote decal, or park your car in a direction where you need to walk through the headlights to reach your destination. So if you’re driving a car with an old battery, chances are that you’ll just have to replace it.

4. Keep it clean:

Always clean your battery by removing the clamps and wipe away the grease, dirt and oxidation. A dirty battery connection will weaken the charge. Keep the battery tray clean; dirt and build upon the casing of the battery can drain its power too. The easy way to solve this problem is just to remove the battery and take it to an auto parts store, and they’ll be able to clean and test it for you. Or, simply use an old toothbrush and a mixture of baking soda and water to clean.

5.  Old, Worn-Out Battery:

Batteries don’t last forever – in fact, most vehicle batteries only last about 5 years. Most of the company mainly give five years of warranty on a battery. But experts have the advice to change a battery every 4 years. So if you’re driving a car with an old battery, chances are that you’ll just have to replace it. Always make sure the battery is secure and sitting correctly. Invest in a car battery charger that will maintain the ideal charge level.
