The Yamaha XSR 250 has been spotted testing for the first time. The bike is based on the Yamaha FZ25 according to various reports. The Japanese bike manufacturer already sells old-style XSR 155 motorcycles in international markets but the launch of XSR 155 has not been confirmed by Yamaha yet for the Nepalese market. We think now the company might want to build a retro motorcycle at a higher segment known as XSR 250. We can expect Yamaha to launch the bike in Nepal early next year or by the end of 2021.

Mechanically, the Yamaha XSR 250 is expected to share several hardware components with the FZ250. The bike will be powered by the same 249cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected, air+oil cooled, BS6-compliant engine, which is capable of generating maximum power of 20.8 HP @ 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 20.1 Nm @ 6,000 rpm. The bike will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The braking duties will be handled by disc brakes on both sides with a dual-channel ABS as a standard unit. The bike also comes with telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock absorber at the rear.

The upcoming XSR 250 is expected to come with features like Bluetooth connectivity and the all-digital instrument console. The bike also features a lot of hardware components same as the FZ250 like the engine, tires, alloy wheels, brakes, suspension, and many more. The motorcycle's design is expected to feature an XSR family-style retrospective chassis and sit between the XSR 155 and XSR 750.  The XSRs has a sporty stance similar to that of the Yamaha MT naked series.

We expect Yamaha to launch XSR 250 in the Nepalese market by late-2021 which will be a slightly more premium alternative to the FZ25. Once launched in Nepal, the XSR250 would be competing with the likes of Bajaj Dominar 250KTM Duke 250Husqvarna Vitpilen 250Suzuki Gixxer 250, and the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250. Yamaha XSR250 is expected to launch in Nepal with a price tag of around NRs. 5-8 lakhs. As well as we can expect the Yamaha XSR250 to be priced in a similar range to FZ25.
